Development log

The world,
under construction.

Waystone is built in the open. Every milestone below shipped to the live game — new realms and bosses, the server-owned economy, the direct-P2P USDC market and the production hardening that keeps a persistent world honest. Newest first.

  1. LatestInterface

An OSRS-quality interface pass — and a proper site

The in-game UI was brought to old-school fidelity: framed shop windows, black-outlined inventory icons and a rebuilt magic spellbook that greys out spells you can't yet cast. Alongside it, the site gained this devlog, a dedicated hiscores hall and an economy explainer.

    • Shop & bank windows
    • Inventory outlines
    • Spellbook rework
  2. v0.113Tech

    Deployment readiness & graceful recovery

/health/ready now fails closed unless PostgreSQL is recently reachable, every deployed migration checksum is current, the singleton authority lease is held and all logical worlds have initialized. On shutdown, SIGTERM drains admission and value-bearing actions, flushes character, economy, ground and raid state, closes WebSockets cleanly and releases the authority lease last — clients reconnect and resume their secure session automatically.

    • Fail-closed readiness
    • Graceful drain
    • Auto-reconnect
  3. v0.106Combat

Honest movement, models & the skills tab

Mob chasing became tethered prediction: a chaser may steer at your live position but never runs more than ~2 tiles ahead of the server's authoritative tile, and reconciliation is a graduated walk instead of a teleport yank — a deaggroed mob visibly walks back before resuming its wander. The grey and dire wolves were rebuilt with layered fur, and the 16-skill tab now fits cleanly with an OSRS-style total-level cell.

    • Tethered mob prediction
    • Rebuilt wolves
    • Shadow perf wins
  4. v0.95Economy

Solana wallet link + direct-P2P USDC market

A Grand Exchange USDC market where buyers pay the seller's wallet directly on Solana — the server verifies the settlement on-chain before releasing the item and never takes custody of funds. Shipped with seven new web3 test suites and a full end-to-end pass against a live server. Read the full breakdown on the economy page.

    • Non-custodial
    • On-chain verified
    • Wallet linking
  5. v0.93World

Frostmaw Depths becomes a God Wars dungeon

The Frostmaw cavern behind the crimson portal was rebuilt into a GWD-style dungeon: larger rooms, kill-count gates guarding each warband, instanced boss chambers and statue teleports out of sealed rooms — with the shared world-transition contract and collision snapshot updated so the server and client agree on every gate.

    • Kill-count gates
    • Instanced bosses
    • Statue teleports
  6. RaidWorld

    The Fifth Seal — a tombs-inspired redesign

A full visual rework of the endgame raid: dark basalt and sandstone architecture, heavy gold trim, glowing hieroglyph boards, torchlight and pylon gates with curtains — an instanced fight against the sealed world-bosses for a coordinated party.

    • Instanced raid
    • Sealed world-bosses
    • Tomb architecture
  7. v0.90Tech

The Owner Console & production admin

A same-origin /admin console combining live runtime and database metrics, online-player authority, account sessions, moderation, economy controls, backup/restore status and immutable admin history. Administrator tokens are exchanged for short-lived HttpOnly sessions and are never stored in the browser.

    • Live metrics
    • Moderation
    • Audited actions
  8. v0.81World

    Caelwyn Aerie — a high-city progression realm

The mainland Ancient Gate opens into Caelwyn Aerie, a high-city of five readable districts: Starbridge Gate, Sunweave Concourse, Moonwater Gardens, Prism Quarry and the sealed Crown Spire. It adds a level-45/60/75 fishing ladder, sunstone and aether mining, higher-tier stall thieving and materials that feed future Crown Spire sinks rather than instant best-in-slot gear.

    • Five districts
    • Aether & sunstone
    • New food ladder
  9. v0.78Tech

    The server-owned inventory ledger

For logged-in accounts the server owns the inventory and bank. Grants are versioned and persisted, and client-simulated actions commit with optimistic concurrency — a commit built on a stale version is rejected and re-synced, so a grant can never be lost or duplicated by a racing action. Your items follow you across devices.

    • Authoritative inventory
    • Optimistic concurrency
    • Cross-device saves
  10. v0.72World

    Viremoor Court, completely reworked

A full rebuild of the teal realm behind the Viremoor portal — its court, pages, channelers and the hexhorn line — with a reliquary loot window to match.

    • Teal realm
    • Reliquary loot
  11. v0.55Combat

General Rimeheart — the first boss

Waystone's first true boss encounter, and the template for the readable, learnable fights the world is built around: telegraphed attacks you can pray against, and armour that can become your own.

    • First boss
    • Readable mechanics
